Welcome to our latest update – Teamie Alabama Cavefish (2.28). Time flies when you’re busy innovating! It’s been a little while since our last update, but we’ve been putting in the work to bring you some exciting new tools and enhancements. This release is packed with improvements designed to save you time, enhance collaboration, and empower more effective teaching and learning. We’re excited to bring you up to speed on all the latest – let’s explore what’s new!
Record and Share Videos Directly in Teamie
We are making it easier than ever to share video content directly within Teamie by introducing a built-in video recording feature. Users can now record videos with audio using their device’s camera and instantly post them, eliminating the need to upload separately recorded files. This functionality is available across multiple areas, including post sharing, comments and replies, quiz submissions for open-ended questions, and assignment submissions, with plans to expand to even more views in the future.
The recording interface includes a live preview, audio input indicator, timer, and intuitive controls for starting, pausing, and stopping recordings. Once recorded, users can preview the video, edit its title, and choose to attach or discard it. The attached video follows Teamie’s standard upload workflow. This enhancement simplifies content sharing, supports richer communication, and removes the hassle of uploading files separately – making your learning and teaching experience smoother and more expressive.
Section-Level Learning Progression
Section Level Progression allows teachers to control the order in which learners access materials within specific sections of their courses. When enabled, learners must complete each section’s content in the sequence it appears before moving on to the next. This ensures a structured learning path while still allowing flexibility for other sections where progression isn’t required. A new label and info icon will indicate when section-level progression is enabled, helping learners easily track their required sequence.
This feature addresses the need for more granular control over how students engage with course content. By enabling section-level progression, teachers can ensure that learners master foundational concepts before advancing, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of their teaching strategies.
Key Benefits:
- Structured Learning Path: Teachers can create a clear, step-by-step learning journey, ensuring that students build knowledge progressively.
- Flexibility for Different Sections: While some sections require strict progression, others can remain open for free exploration, catering to diverse learning styles.
- Enhanced Engagement: The structured approach keeps students focused and motivated, as they see their progress clearly marked.

Highest Score Grading for Quiz Attempts
Teamie now offers an option to automatically consider the learner’s attempt with the highest score for grading when multiple quiz attempts are allowed. This means instructors no longer need to manually select which attempt to grade, ensuring that learners are fairly evaluated based on their best performance. If multiple attempts share the highest score, the most recent one will be used for grading, streamlining the grading process and saving instructors time.
By default, the system considers the most recent attempt for grading, but enabling this setting provides a more flexible and learner-friendly approach. This enhancement improves fairness and transparency in assessment, allowing learners to focus on improving their scores without confusion about which attempt will count towards their final grade.
Enhanced Lesson Creation Workflow
The lesson creation workflow has been enhanced to reduce the number of steps required to create, edit, and manage lessons. Users are now redirected directly to the lesson edit view when creating a new lesson, making it faster to add content and make changes. Additionally, the material drawer has been repositioned for better usability, and editing lesson details is now more accessible via a modal on the cover image.
For lessons with attached assessments, a new navigation link is shown, allowing teachers and students to easily jump between the lesson and its assessments. These enhancements simplify lesson setup, improve navigation, and provide a smoother experience for both educators and learners.
By reducing complexity and improving usability, these updates empower teachers to focus more on creating engaging lessons and less on navigating cumbersome workflows. The streamlined process saves time and effort, while clearer navigation ensures that users can easily access and manage their content.
AI Image Generation with DALL-E
Teamie now features AI-powered image generation, enabling users to create custom visuals directly within the platform using DALL-E technology. By simply entering a prompt and selecting style and size options, users can instantly generate unique images for classroom covers, lessons, user profiles, stories, posts, and more – eliminating the need for external image searches or uploads.
This enhancement empowers both educators and learners to personalize their content with creative, high-quality visuals that reflect their ideas and themes. Usage quotas ensure fair access, with clear visibility of remaining credits for each user. The result is a more engaging, visually appealing, and efficient experience for everyone on Teamie. Semester-Based Mastery Automation
Teamie now supports semester-based mastery automation, allowing teachers to manage distinct assessments, grading cycles, and mastery progressions for each semester within a single classroom. This enhancement eliminates the need to create separate classrooms for different semesters, streamlining classroom management and providing a unified view of student performance across the academic year.
With this feature, assignments and assessments can be automatically or manually tagged to specific semesters, and mastery progress can be tracked separately for each term. Teachers and administrators can easily switch between semester views or access an overall score and grade, enabling more efficient reporting, targeted interventions, and a comprehensive understanding of student progress throughout the year. Click here to read the dedicated blog post for this feature.
We have also introduced a new mastery calculation logic for child objectives, based on Statistical Mean. The Statistical Mean mastery automation logic calculates a learner’s mastery score by taking the average of all their graded assessments associated with a specific standard or objective. The mastery calculation is based on the arithmetic average of mastery scales across assessments. This method offers a balanced representation of a learner’s overall performance and ensures that every assessment contributes equally to the final mastery score.
Gradebook Enhancements: Semester-Based Grading & Calculation Methods
Teamie’s latest Gradebook enhancements introduce semester-based grading, giving educators the flexibility to manage and calculate grades for distinct academic terms within a single classroom for the traditional gradebook. Teachers can now tag assessments to specific semesters, filter gradebook data by term, and publish final grades for each semester or for the entire academic year. This streamlines academic reporting and eliminates the need for separate classrooms for each term, providing a unified view of student progress.
In addition, Teamie’s Gradebook now offers enhanced flexibility with two distinct calculation methods at the classroom level: Overall Grading and Semester-Based Grading. Administrators can choose to calculate grades across all assessments for the entire academic year or independently by semester, providing either a holistic or granular view of student performance. Semester-based grading allows for separate management and analysis of scores for each term, while the overall method combines all assessments for a comprehensive annual grade. Click here to learn more about these enhancements.
Furthermore, new calculation logics have been introduced to accommodate diverse grading practices. Educators can select from Weighted Assessments, Total Points, or Average methods – each with options to use grading components for more detailed scoring. These improvements make it easy to align grade calculations with institutional policies and classroom needs, with site-level defaults and classroom-specific settings available for maximum customization.
Streamlined Grading Components Workflow
Teamie now offers a streamlined grading component workflow at the classroom level, allowing teachers to group assessments into grading component categories such as Lab Work, Class Activities, or Final Exam, each with a specific weightage toward the final grade. With this enhancement, all assessments within a grading component are equally weighted by default, eliminating the need to assign individual weightages to each assessment. This makes it easier to add or modify assessments during the term without adjusting the grading structure, providing greater flexibility for schools where assessment plans may evolve.
Teachers can tag each assessment to a grading component, ensuring every assessment contributes appropriately to the final grade. The Gradebook displays scores by grading component, and new filters allow instructors to view or analyze assessments within specific components. This update simplifies grade calculations, supports dynamic classroom needs, and aligns the user interface for managing grading components with other Teamie forms for a more consistent experience.
Example Calculation:
For “Class Activities (30% weight)”:
Test 1: 7/10 = 70%
Test 2: 18/20 = 90%
Component Score: (70+90)/2 = 80%
-> 80 x 30% = 24
AI-Powered Quiz Generation
Teamie now offers AI-powered quiz generation, enabling teachers to quickly create customized quizzes using advanced large language models. Educators can tailor questions by curriculum, grade level, subject, topic, difficulty, and question type, ensuring each quiz aligns with specific learning objectives and student needs. The dual-layer AI validation process, using both Google Gemini and OpenAI’s GPT-4, ensures high-quality, accurate questions for reliable assessments (Questions generated by Google Gemini; answers verified by GPT-4 for accuracy).
This feature streamlines quiz creation, saves valuable time, and supports differentiated instruction by making it easy to generate additional practice or targeted quizzes for individual students. Teachers can manage their AI question quotas with clear visibility and access to a site-wide pool, making the process efficient and scalable. AI-generated questions are clearly marked for easy identification, and teachers retain full control to review and edit before publishing. Click here to learn more about AI quizzes in Teamie!

Admin-Only Grade Scheme Management
Grade scheme management can now be restricted to admins only, ensuring greater consistency and control over grading structures across your institution.
This enhancement ensures that grade scheme management is controlled exclusively by site administrators, helping to maintain consistency and accuracy in grading standards across the platform. If you would like to enable this configuration for your Teamie site, please reach out to our support team.
Enhanced Rubric Experience
Rubric setup is now more intuitive, with automatic removal of sample criteria when objectives are attached. Students see clear criteria descriptions in their gradebook, and rubric popovers are easier to read, making grading transparent and straightforward. In the student view of the gradebook, we have added an info icon in the rubric table. Hovering over this icon will display a tooltip containing the criterion description, making it easier for users to understand the grading criteria.
Furthermore, we have introduced dropdown-based rubric grading for extensive criteria. Previously, the grading UI displayed all scales horizontally in a linear list, which made it challenging to navigate. For rubrics with more than five scales, grading is now managed via a dropdown menu, making it easier to handle detailed assessments.
Unit Planner Enhancements
Copy Materials from Classrooms to Unit Planners
Easily organize and reuse lessons and assessments by copying materials from classrooms directly into unit planners. This streamlines curriculum development and keeps content aligned across your courses. The process remains similar to the existing workflows, but in cases where units are enabled, users will be prompted to select the stage into which they wish to copy the material during the section (unit) selection process.
Editable Section and Unit Details in Unit Planners
You can now update titles, descriptions, and weeks for sections and units in workspaces and unit planners – even after they’ve been pushed to classrooms. The update process remains consistent with how users update weeks for units that have not been pushed, and the “Save” button will become active after making changes. Additionally, these updates will also reflect in the Curriculum Map tab within the unit planner.
Akamai SSO Integration
Teamie now supports Single Sign-On (SSO) with Akamai Identity Cloud. Users can log in securely with their Akamai credentials, streamlining authentication and boosting security.
Edit Comments in Attempt and Evidence Viewer
Teamie has introduced a helpful enhancement that allows users to edit their comments directly within the Attempt Viewer and Evidence Viewer. Now, whether you’re providing feedback on assignments, quizzes, offline tests, or discussion submissions, you can easily revise your remarks if needed—ensuring your feedback remains clear, accurate, and up to date. Once a comment is edited, the updated version will appear in the comment list as usual, with the timestamp reflecting the change as ‘Updated’.
This improvement makes it easier for both educators and learners to maintain high-quality communication and meaningful interactions throughout the review process.
Enhanced Standards-Based Grading and Reporting (SBGR)
We have introduced several enhancements to the Student Mastery View and related areas within Teamie to improve usability and provide more comprehensive insights.
Firstly, we have enhanced the Student Mastery View to display the overall score and grade next to the student’s name when the feature is enabled. Additionally, the Parent Mastery Score and Grade will now be visible on cards for parent objectives in the most recent mastery progression, similar to how it is presented for teachers in a classroom. This update aims to provide students and parents with a clearer understanding of the mastery level at a glance.
We have also made improvements to the Standards View, where the parent mastery score and grade for the latest progression will now be displayed, offering a more consistent experience across views. Furthermore, we have enhanced the Mastery View to support manual recording of mastery levels for both parent and child objectives, aligning it with the existing Standard View.
